North West Province
Capital city: Mafikeng
Population: 3,3 million
Surface area: 106 500 square km
This province is host to the largest casino in South Africa, namely Sun City. The casino also hosts golf tournaments, boxing matches and concerts, besides which there is also the Lost City, a stunning hotel. The Pilanesberg Game Reserve is roughly 135 000 hectares (335 000 acres) in size. When it was established, it incorporated several farms and a volcanic crater (now extinct!). It is possible to see the so-called “Big Five” group of animals here, and the Reserve is the third-largest in South Africa. Further north, one finds the Madikwe National Park.
To the south of Sun City lies Rustenberg and the Rustenburg Nature Reserve, which is situated in the Magalies mountains. In the park there are antelope and various other game, including the rare Cape vulture and black eagle.

Dear Sir
My name is Deborah Rathanyane, I stay in Botswana, Mochudi village. I wish to ask for your intervention in a matter about my Nationality. I am South African by birth, born Deborah Moerane in Bapong near Brits in 1959. I also matriculated in Meadolands High School in 1977. Then my mother relocated with me to Botswana because I was young and still in her care when she got married and gained Botswana citizenship with me.
My parents have since died and I am separated from my two siblings who are residents of South Africa. My brother is an employee of Bapo-ba-Mogale Tribal Authority, I seriously consider claiming back my birthright of being a citizen of South Africa. I feel trapped in this country and when South Africans celebrate Heritage day I feel trapped and lost to not associate with my people, especially since I am the only member of my family left in Botswana.
I am a Registered Nurse and have been practising for 28 years in Botswana, with specialities in Palliative Care. I would also be honoured to serve my people, in the land of my ancestors.
Looking forward to positive response and help regarding this matter Sir.
Yours Faithfully
Deborah Rathanyane
