Before you relocate to South Africa permanently, you may want to spend some time touring the country, getting to know the scenery, and making new contacts of a business or social nature. This is actually a very important part of the immigration process, and with a favourable exchange rate, it does not necessarily have to be an expensive trip.
South Africa is a country blessed with great diversity, both geographically and culturally. It is easy to lose yourself in the vast expanses of open scenery or the cosmopolitan urban centres. In South Africa, one sees the combination of first and third world trends, fusing to form an exciting new economy. And then there are the nature reserves and internationally recognised beaches,
as well as no fewer than eight World Heritage sites. Having survived the trauma of apartheid, South Africa is now a more stable and prosperous democracy.
South Africa has a proven track record of international performance, having hosted the soccer, cricket and rugby world cups. Skilled personnel and expert logistical management made these events possible, and this is the same type of service that you may expect when you arrive here. There are more than ten official languages, and you may find that you get your tongue clicking in isiXhosa, or roll your “r”s and grate your “g”s in Afrikaans.
South Africa’s natural beauty is vast and breathtaking. There are several national parks to be visited, where you can get very close to large wild animals such as lions and rhino, and then there are also roads that simply take you through pristine terrain, making the drive a pleasure, and very easy on the eye.
If you are going to be based more in the urban centres, there should be no shortage of entertainment. Find out all about nightlife in South Africa, for example on Long Street in Cape Town, or in Johannesburg. Or sample the Indian cuisine in Durban, the centre of the largest Indian population outside of India. And wherever you go, you may be sure that you will find South African wine, the produce of the oldest wine-producing sector outside of Europe.
South Africa is an obvious immigration and travel destination. If you are interested in using Immigration South Africa for travel advice, please contact us on travel@immigrationsouthafrica.org.
